This Business of Art was founded by artist Hannah Blackmore, a professional painter based in Hobart, Tasmania. The idea for TBOA was born out of a desire to help artists create a successful business around their art, by learning from other artists in a supportive and friendly environment.

Hannah Blackmore is an artist from Jersey, Channel Islands. Born in 1978, Hannah came from a creative family and decided to make art her career. While a Fine Art degree helped define her unique style, it didn't provide her with any business skills and Hannah found herself working various part-time jobs to support herself.
However, a move to Tasmania in 2012 brought with it a fresh start and an opportunity to rent a small studio in the heart of a prestigious arts centre. After a lot of hard work and learning, along with the support of fellow artists, Hannah realised her dream of becoming a full-time professional artist.
A recent business scholarship inspired Hannah to build a membership and online course designed specifically for artists. Here she shares her own experiences of the industry with up-to-date business skills and new technologies which can provide a huge advantage to artists in 2020.
