Hannah Blackmore

Hannah Blackmore is an artist from Jersey, Channel Islands. Born in 1978, Hannah comes from a creative family and decided to make art her career. While a Fine Art degree helped define her unique style, it didn't provide her with any business skills and Hannah found herself working various part-time jobs to support herself.

However, a move to Tasmania in 2012 brought with it a fresh start and an opportunity to rent a small studio in the heart of a prestigious arts centre. After a lot of hard work and learning, along with the support of fellow artists, Hannah realised her dream of becoming a full-time professional artist.

A recent business scholarship inspired Hannah to build a membership site designed specifically for artists. Here she shares her own experiences of the industry with up-to-date business skills and new technologies which can provide a huge advantage to artists in 2020.

How Can We Help You?

Never before has there been a better time to be an artist.

And this is largely due to the presence of the internet. It is now easier than ever to get your work seen, your profile out there and gain exposure, and all from the comfort of your own home. Great for those introverts among us!

There are many different reasons why people make art, and if you want to do this for a living, you will need an audience and you will need to sell your work. This means you will need to be able to promote and market your work and manage the business side of your practice.

Cue This Business of Art. The process can be overwhelming which is why I have broken it down and simplified it by explaining the key areas needed to grow a successful art business.

Whether you are a painter, photographer, ceramicist or cake-maker, This Business of Art can help you set up your business, leaving you with more time to do what you do best - create.
